Roommates
Once you own a lot, you do not have to look after it all on your own. Roommates let you share your home with other players, so you can decorate, build, and grow the place together. It is a fun way to team up with friends, or simply to keep your lot feeling lived in, lively and with a host at all times.
Taking on a roommate
To invite someone, both of you need to be standing on your lot. Click on their character, choose Lot Admin, and then Invite Roommate. They will receive an invitation and can accept whenever they are ready.
You can have up to three roommates on a lot, and we will allow more for subscribers when we launch that in the future. If you already own a property of your own, the great news is you can still be a roommate at a property!
What roommates can do
Roommates can do almost everything you can. The lot is their home too so they can come and go as they please, use everything on it, and get stuck in with cooking, working, and all the usual hosting duties - just like you. The only things reserved for the owner are removing other roommates and changing the lot category, size, and upgrades all stay in your hands.
By default, roommates cannot use the build tools such as walls, floors, wallpaper, doors, and windows. If you would like a roommate to help build, open the Roommates tab in the Lot Management Panel and switch on their build access. You can turn it off again whenever you like and the change takes effect straight away.
What roommates CANT do
Roommates are unable to pay lot upkeep or ban players from a property. They are also unable to change a lot name, description, category etc.
By default, as previously mentioned, they are not able to build unless you provide access to do so.
Object Ownership
Roommates can buy and place their own furniture, which is a great way to fill out a lot together and share the cost. Anything a roommate places still belongs to them, though. If you move one of their pieces away, it returns to their inventory rather than yours, and neither of you can sell the other's belongings.
When a roommate moves out, or if you remove them, they take all of their own furniture with them. So do not be surprised if a few rooms look a little barer afterwards! On the bright side, more players investing in the lot means it grows and thrives that much faster.
Selecting people you trust
Roommates are brilliant for building something together or keeping your lot buzzing while you are away, but do choose people you trust.
They can rearrange furniture, send pieces back to inventory, and interact with your visitors, so you will want them to treat your home as kindly as you would yourself. Pick well, and a good roommate makes your little corner of the world feel busier, cosier, and more alive.
