Skills in Vitare

Skills are one of the core gameplay systems in Vitare. A skill is something that your character can work on and maintain through skilling.

We have four types of skills at the moment:

  1. Cooking
  2. Engineering
  3. Charisma
  4. Gardening

Skills start at level 0 and can be worked up to level 20.99 - reaching the top takes dedication and a little help from your friends!

What do Skills allow me to do?

Skills aren't just numbers, they give you real gameplay advantage and perks!

One of the main reasons people skill is to earn more V$ from money objects, but there's more than that. Increasing your skill will give you things such as:

  • New interactions with objects that lower-skilled players can’t access
  • Better payouts from money-making objects
  • Higher quality outputs such as food
  • New gameplay

For example, with the Cooking skill, you can unlock access to different types of higher quality meals to serve to players on your lot, as well as access to objects like a fancier oven!

Skill Decay

Skills are not permanent, just like in real life! If you neglect a skill for long enough, it will very slowly begin to drift back.

  • Decay only happens while you are online. Logging off does not hurt your skills so you’re not penalised for your real life!
  • Decay is paused while you are actively skilling. The skill you’re currently working on is always protected.
  • Decay only kicks in once you have 15 skill points in total across all skills

You can lock your skills of your choice in your Player Passport - this prevents skill decay on up to 15 skill points.

Skills Overview

Cooking

The Cooking Skill allows you to go from hopeless baker to a true master of culinary creations.

You can practice this skill by studying Cooking from any bookshelf in-game.

The Cooking Skill provides you with access to unique objects in the game catalog, such as a fancy oven, and will give you a strong boost when using any cooking-related money object.

In the future, this skill will also increase from other activities, result in anything you cook being higher quality, and unlock unique social interactions.

Engineering

The Engineering Skill allows you to become a master in crafting and repair.

You can practice this skill by studying Engineering from any bookshelf in-game.

The Engineering Skill provides you with access to unique objects in the game catalog and will give you a strong boost when using any engineering-related money object such as the Workbench.

Engineering is also important for repairing any objects that break. The higher your engineering skill, the quicker an object will be repaired and less likelihood of any fatal incidents. You could even allow people to hire you to fix their objects!

In the future, this skill will also increase from other activities, craft objects, and unlock unique social interactions.

Charisma

The Charisma Skill allows you go from quiet and shy to really talking the talk, wherever you go!

You can practice this skill by using any mirror object in-game and practice the art of speaking.

The Charisma Skill will provide you with a wide roster of interactions such as additional emotes, player to player interactions, and more. This skill also provides you with access to some unique objects, such as a gold-plated mirror, and a strong boost when using any charisma-related money object such as the pay phone.

Gardening

The Gardening Skill allows you to have a green thumb and make gardening even more rewarding.

You can practice this skill by studying Gardening from any bookshelf in-game, or by actually gardening yourself! Growing flowers and crops actively contributes to your gardening skill.

The Gardening Skill provides you with access to exclusive crops and flowers that you can only grow with a higher skill level. You can then use these to display in your lot, sell, or use in your cooking. The higher your skill, the better quality the outcome too.

In the future, we will be adding more crops and flowers to grow as you skill. You can learn more about Gardening on its own wiki page.
